ATEX roof fans — certified roof ventilation for potentially explosive atmospheres

ATEX roof fans are safety-certified equipment to Directive 2014/34/EU for installation on the rooftop of buildings where a potentially explosive atmosphere exists at roof level or inside the building. Any standard roof fan — regardless of build quality — is legally prohibited in these environments: the motor and electrical components can generate sparks that ignite the flammable mixture being evacuated.

This requirement applies to all ATEX-classified industrial buildings where roof ventilation exhausts air that may contain flammable vapours, gases or dust: spray booths and surface coating workshops (solvent vapours), flammable substance warehouses, chemical and petrochemical plants, furniture factories (wood dust), silos and mills (grain or flour dust), sewage treatment plants (methane) and any other application with explosion risk at roof or interior level.
