24V power supplies — stabilised supply for HVAC sensors and ventilation automation equipment
HVAC sensors, 0-10V signal controllers and ventilation automation equipment generally operate at safety extra-low voltage — 24V AC or 24V DC — not directly from the 230V mains. This ensures electrical safety in occupied spaces and protects sensitive sensor electronics from 230V network variations. Power supplies in this range are transformers or electronic supply units converting 230V AC mains to stabilised 24V AC or 24V DC, with sufficient power for multiple sensors and automation devices simultaneously. Sizing the supply: sum the nominal consumptions (in VA or W) of all powered equipment (sensors, signal controllers, damper actuators) and select a supply rated at least 20% above the calculated sum — the margin ensures stable operation and extends supply life. Applications: powering CO₂, temperature and humidity sensors, 0-10V signal controllers, VAV damper actuators, any HVAC automation equipment requiring 24V.
