Induction centrifugal JET fans
Centrifugal JET fans — smoke extraction through impulse with higher static pressure for car parks and tunnels
Centrifugal JET fans operate on the same induction ventilation principle as axial jet fans — they generate a directed air jet that entrains the car park or tunnel air volume — but with a fundamental constructive difference: the centrifugal rotor produces significantly higher static pressure than axial variants, at the same thrust airflow.
This characteristic makes them superior to axials in specific applications: long tunnels (over 200–300 m) where the aeraulic resistance to longitudinal flow is high and requires greater thrust force to maintain air velocity at the required level (min. 1.5–2 m/s), multi-level underground car parks where the air jet must traverse ramps or openings between levels, and installations with geometric obstacles (columns, low beams, partial partitions) that disperse the axial jet.
From a standards perspective, EN 12101-3 certification is identically mandatory for the centrifugal variant as for the axial one. The F300/60, F300/120 or F400/120 marking guarantees operation in smoke extraction mode for the specified duration at the specified temperature — regardless of the rotor construction type.
The ventilation.ro range includes Casals centrifugal JET models with thrust airflows of 5,000–20,000 m³/h, certified to EN 12101-3, with reversibility option and standardised connectors for integration into automation and fire detection systems.
How to choose between axial and centrifugal jet fans: if the fluid-dynamic calculation shows that the required thrust force exceeds the capacity of available axial jet fans, or if the space geometry requires a more concentrated jet with greater penetration, centrifugal models are the correct choice. For standard car parks without special geometric constraints, axial jet fans are generally sufficient and more economical.
